A Season That Redefined What's Possible: Georgia Harris

Georgia Harris didn't just play her first season with the Chargers, Gee wrote the first chapter of a new club's story.
Some seasons are about statistics. Some are about survival. Gee's 2025 season was something else entirely, it was about foundation. When Port Melbourne Chargers took to the field for the very first time on Saturday, 5th April 2025, no one knew exactly what the future held. The woman who kicked the first goal in the club's history gave everyone a very clear idea.

That woman was Georgia Harris. A forward who has spent years sharpening her craft.
Playing across many clubs including Williamstown VFLW, Gee brought a wealth of experience to a brand-new club and proceeded to put the rest of the competition on notice.
With 46 goals in her debut season for the Port Melbourne Chargers, Gee led the competition in goal-kicking. A number that would be remarkable for any player in any season, let alone a player in a new team, in a brand new club in the very first year.
The First Goal in Club History
On Saturday, the 5th of April, 2025, the Port Melbourne Chargers played their inaugural VAFA game. Georgia Harris kicked the first goal in the club's history, a moment forever written in history.
Check out the video to watch Gee take the mark, line up, and deliver. A moment that belonged to her, and to every woman who will ever pull on a Chargers jumper.
Georgia's Season in Numbers
1: First goal ever scored in Port Melbourne Chargers' history
46: VAFA’s leading goalkicker, with 46 goals
234: Senior games across a career that has taken her from St Kilda City, Williamstown VFLW and to the Port Chargers
309: In round fifteen against Old Xav's, Gee achieved 300 career goals, a remarkable milestone that places her among the most prolific goal scorers in women's football. Gee finished the season out with 309 goals.
Team of The Year — Lining up deep forward, in the VAFA Premier B Women's Team of the Year.
The Port Melbourne Chargers made finals in their very first VAFA season, a remarkable feat for any new club. Gee was at the heart of it, not just as a goal kicker, but as a member of the Player Leadership Team and a mentor who helped a new club forge our identity.
The Salta Golden Boot Award

Salta Properties, are the Port Chargers' Foundation Partner, whose commitment to community and women's sport has been integral to everything the club has built in its first year.
The Salta Golden Boot Award, is given to the season's leading goal scorer, recognising exceptional skill, persistence, and achievement.
At the Club's inaugurual Best & Fairest, the Salta Golden Boot Award was proudly presented by Managing Director of Salta Properties, Sam Tarascio.
True to form, Gee accepted the award with humility and hurriedly stepped back out of the spotlight.
Football Career
Gee's career tells the story of a footballer who has never stopped pushing, never stopped developing, and never stopped showing up. Across 234 senior games and 309 career goals, she has built a remarkable record.
Starting where so many did, in the Victorian Women's Football League, from there, her talent took her on a journey that wound through multiple clubs and competitions over many years. This included the St Kilda Sharks and Williamstown VFLW. A career that wasn't a straight line, but a series of chapters, each one adding something to the player and the person, she has become.
That kind of career doesn't just build goal-kicking ability. It builds character, adaptability, and a deep understanding of what it takes to belong somewhere new and make an immediate impact.
Which is exactly what she did when she pulled on a Chargers jumper for the first time in 2025.
Not one for the Spotlight
Ask anyone at the Port Chargers about Gee, and they'll tell you the same thing: she is not someone who seeks attention. Every accolade from her remarkable 2025 season was accepted with the same discomfort that comes from someone who simply doesn't want or think they deserve the fuss.

If you came down to any of Gee's games this season, you would have noticed someone on the boundary who never missed a moment. Gee's dad, Steve Harris, was there. Every week. Every venue. Every kick, mark, and goal.
Steve's unwavering presence has become part of the fabric of Chargers match days — a quiet, constant reminder of the family that sits behind every footballer. That support was celebrated at the Best & Fairest Rise Above Awards. Steve was recognised as the Best Dad, honoured for never missing a single game and also for the Best Dad Jokes.
The Port Melbourne Football Pathway
Georgia Harris is more than a footballer. Whether she would describe herself this way or not and knowing Gee, she probably wouldn't, Gee is a role model.
The Port Melbourne Chargers completes the pathway for women and girls in the Port Melbourne community: from Port Colt Junior girls' football through to senior competition, VFLW and beyond. Georgia embodies that pathway in full.
A player who started at grassroots level, developed her craft across elite programs, and chose to join a brand-new club at a stage of her career when some would chose to stop.

That choice matters. When a young girl looks up and sees what Georgia has done, 234
games, 309 goals and counting, VAFA Team of the Year selection, the inaugural Salta Golden Boot (and the list goes on), she sees what's possible for her. That is leadership, this is the Port Melbourne pathway, made real.
Charging Forward
The Charging Forward Leadership Program, is a unique program investing in the growth and development of our Chargers' leaders, building leaders who bring purpose, connection, and strength both on and off the field.
Georgia's profile reveals something the Port Chargers already knows: her influence goes beyond what she does on the scoreboard. Gee is a relationship builder and an executor. Eight of her top ten strengths sit across those two domains, together they explain not only the goals she has scored but why being part of a team is so important to her.
Gee wants to make sure that everyone feels they belong and can continue to develop themselves. We look forward to seeing Gee continue to support the players achieve their football dreams.
The Port Melbourne Chargers were admitted to the VAFA in 2025 with a vision: to create a club where women could play, lead, and belong — from junior girls through to senior competition. In our first season, we made finals and along with Maia Sublet, Gee earned Premier B Team of the Year representation.
Much of our first year story has Georgia Harris's fingerprints on it. Clearly the goals, but also what is achievable. The way a younger player looks across up to see what's possible for her too. Gee would deflect all of that. She'd tell you it was the team, the coaches, the club. And she'd be right — it was.
However, as uncomfortable as it is for Gee to stand in the spotlight, it's time for her to recognise what we already know: she is a role model who will inspire generations to come. Gee is anchored by core values that don't shift — and while 2025 was foundational, we look forward to the impact she will have on our club in 2026.
And for Gee, well we think maybe it's time for a little more, time for you to be standing out the front in that spotlight.
